       朱宣咸(1927年浙江台州——2002年重庆),中国画画家、木刻版画家、漫画家与美术活动家。
 
       20世纪40年代初起从事中国画,中国新兴木刻版画与时政漫画。由浙江到上海直接投身鲁迅发起的新兴木刻版画,以及海上画派和一系列上海进步美术运动。1946年加入中华全国木刻协会。1948年在近代史上著名的上海“《观察》事件”中被捕。1949年与刘开渠、杨可扬、张乐平、(郑)野夫、庞薰琹等代表上海美术界在《大公报》发表迎接解放的“美术工作者宣言”,该宣言的发表也意味着国统区美术和上海近代美术史从此翻开了崭新的一页。同时进入中华全国美术协会、中华全国木刻协会、中华全国漫画协会“联合办事处”,参与上海解放初期美术事业的筹备建设。此后,参加中国人民解放军,1949年底随军到重庆。1951年起任中华全国美术工作者协会(中国美术家协会前身)重庆执委,中国美术家协会会员。重庆市美术摄影展览办公室主任,最早的重庆美术馆(解放碑夫子池)馆长。重庆市美术家协会成立时被选举为首任常务副主席兼秘书长、后任顾问,是成立重庆市美术家协会的筹备人,成立重庆国画院的发起人、顾问,成立重庆美专校的创始人、校长。长期以来,朱宣咸正直无私的先后担任了新闻、文化、教育、出版系统的美术领导工作。作为1949年新中国建立后美术事业的重要开拓者之一,对于建立、推动和促进20世纪中期与后期重庆美术事业的繁荣、发展与走向全国作出了重要贡献。被政府授予“献给共和国创立者”勋章。
 
       朱宣咸形成了自己鲜明的艺术风格,取得了令人瞩目的艺术成就。同时,他的中国画具有海上画派风格与传承,在版画方面,早期以欧洲黑白木刻为起源,后来结合了中国艺术的特色。
       年轻时就投身人民美术事业和进步学生运动的朱宣咸,半个多世纪以来,创作了一大批洋溢着鲜明艺术精神,充满着鲜明时代感与社会性的中国画、木刻版画、时政漫画、插画、水粉画、水彩画、连环画等作品。不少作品被中国美术馆及各地美术馆、博物馆等收藏,被多部大型文献收录。从1946年到2002年多次入选国内外一系列重要展览。其艺术风貌、学术性与多元性被各主要媒体专题评论,发表作品数千次。香港、重庆、浙江先后举办画展。出版《朱宣咸作品选》、《朱宣咸花鸟画选辑》、《朱宣咸木刻版画集》、《朱宣咸风景木刻版画选辑》、《艺术常青——美术家朱宣咸》、《朱宣咸美术作品选》等。生平被载入一系列国家级美术辞书。

A Life of Zhu Xuanxian


Zhu Xuanxian, 1927 (Zhejiang)---2002 (Chongqing), a traditional Chinese painting artist, a woodblock artist, a cartoonist and a great contributor to fine arts.
 
Zhu Xuanxian took up Chinese painting, woodblock art and editorial cartoon in early 1940s, participating in the woodblock art movement organized by Lu Xun from Zhejiang to Shanghai, and the Haishang Painting School and a series of progressive art activities in Shanghai. He signed up for the Society of Woodblock Art in China in 1946; was arrested in 1948 for the famous Shanghai “Observation Event” in modern times; published the “Declaration of Art Workers” in Ta Kung Pao in 1949 on behalf of the community of fine arts in Shanghai, along with Liu Kaiqu, Yang Keyang, Zhang Leping, (Zheng) Yefu and Pang Xunqin, which turned the new page of the fine arts in Kuomintang-ruled areas and Shanghai Modern Art History; and entered the office of the National Art Association, the Society of Woodblock Art in China and The National Association of Cartoons and participated in the preparation work of art in the early time of Liberation in Shanghai in 1949. Afterwards he joined the Chinese People's Liberation Army and came to Chongqing with the Army in 1949. He worked in Chongqing Executive Committee of Chinese Art Workers Association (now Chinese Artists Association), and was the member of both Chinese Artists Association and Chinese Woodblock Painters Association. He was selected as the first deputy chairman & secretary of Chongqing Artists Association as one of the founders, launcher and advisor of Chongqing Academy of Chinese Paintings, founder and president of Chongqing Art School, office director of Chongqing Fine Art Photography Exhibition, curator of Chongqing’s earliest art gallery (Fuzichi, Jiefangbei). As one of the most important pioneers of fine arts after the foundation of new China, he made large contributions to the establishment and promotion of Chongqing’s fine arts in the middle and late 20th century to become prosperous and connected to all parts of China. He received the medal of “in honor of the founders of the republic” issued by the Government.
